August 1941. On the last road to Leningrad that has not been occupied by the Nazis, a truck is carrying Lunin, a civil aviation pilot. He has yet to take part in military operations, but when the blockade begins, Lunin is sent to the legendary squadron of fighter pilots under the command of captain Rassokhin.
