She grew up in Taganka, in a family where work and knowledge were valued.
In 1967, she began taking entrance exams to MISI and most likely would have been accepted. But as sometimes happens, chance intervened. Natalia's friend Viktor Pavlov, who knew her from the amateur stage and believed that she had real dramatic talent, persuaded the girl to abandon her ideas of a career as a designer and instead become an actress.
In this year 1967 she entered the Shchukin Theatre
From 1971, after graduating, four Moscow theatres offered her work at once: the Moscow Art Theatre, Sovremennik, the Vakhtangov Theatre and the Mayakovsky Theatre.
Natalia Gundareva began acting in films in 1966. But the real debut of the actress is considered to have taken place in 1972, when she played the main role in Vitaly Melnikov's village melodrama "Hello and Goodbye!"
In 1979, Natalia Gundareva played Nina in Georgy Danelia's film based on a script by A.M. Volodin "Autumn Marathon", for this work Natalia Gundareva was awarded the State Prize of the RSFSR (1980).
On July 18, 2001, the actress suffered a stroke at her dacha near Moscow. In recent years she was seriously ill, hoping to recover and return to the stage of her native theater, but the miracle never happened.
Natalia Georgievna Gundareva died on Sunday morning, May 15, 2005, at the age of 57, in Moscow. The great actress was buried on May 18 in section 6 of the Troekurovsky cemetery.
