Dawn / Sunset depicts the nominal twenty four hours which the authors of the film spend in the residence of Dalai Lama in India – starting in very same beginning of his working day in three A.M. and ending in the sunset, when Dalai Lama finally goes to sleep. In the end of this day, having returned to the private chamber of Dalai Lama the filmmakers have an absolutely informal conversation with him considering the sum of things, the essence of the creation, and the place a human being and religion in the modern society. This discussion is like the pitchfork for the enclosing part of the movie, when the authors are travelling back from India to Russia, through China. In the most remarkable manner the theme of the above-described discussion about the overpopulation in the world, the stratification of society and the methods to avoid conflicts and wars, gets the vivid and convincing visual proof.
