A half-deserted village, far from the regional center, is now inhabited by the characters from Ostrovsky's "Snegurochka" (The Snow Princess), transposed to our time. Bobyl and Bobylikha are stationmasters, Berendei is no longer the tsar but a guard, Lel is a trendy DJ from Moscow visiting for the winter holidays, and his classmate Mizgir is a successful businessman from the regional center. Only Snegurochka seems to have remained the same as before: incapable of feeling emotions and yet condemned to inspire the love of all the men around her.
