Plot synopsis
Historical film produced from the screenplay by Aleksei Tolstoy. The action takes place at the end of the 17th century and the beginning of the 18th, in this period of constitution of the great Russian empire, and in this time of great reforms, but also of secret palace plots, joyful assemblies and cruel executions . This film depicts all these aspects of the rise to power of the first emperor of Russia.
