The film tells a true story that took place in the mid-1980s. The death of one of the Soviet Union's most popular actors, sportsman and poet, Talgat Nigmatoulline, came as a shock to Russian society. Talgat Nigmatoulline became very well known after the film ‘Pirates of the 20th Century’, in which he played one of the leading roles. As a karate master, he was an important figure in the Asian republics of the USSR. But at the same time - and nobody knew this - Talgat Nigmatoulline was a member of a religious sect. He was killed on his Master's orders by members of the sect. Despite his perfect mastery of the martial arts, he was beaten to death and made no resistance to his killers.
