Plot synopsis
In 1931 the tomb of the Russian writer Nikolaï Gogol in the graveyard of the monastery Danilov was opened. But in the coffin misses the skull of the writer.
Another party of the film plot takes place at present. Vasia Poloutantsev with distant family ties with the famous collector Bakhrouchine tries to find the skull of Gogol to sell it.
