Plot synopsis

In the family of a factory manager, a son Valeri, a daughter Marina and an adopted son Shura whose father died at the front. The children get along well, but Valeri becomes more and more selfish. One day he refused to carry out a mission of his pioneer group and stopped wearing a red tie. At the pioneer council, Shura condemned Valeri's attitude, but he considers it a betrayal...
