A new coal combine is being tested at one of the advanced mines of Donbass. Its designer, Trofimenko, continues to work on improving the unit. Honorary miner Stepan Nedolya, young pile driver Vasya Orlov, and mine manager Gorovoy are fighting for the introduction of new, more advanced work methods. A restructuring is taking place in the ranks of miners: some workers have to give up their place to more qualified personnel, others go to study at institutes in order to later return to their native mine as engineers.
