Plot synopsis
On the rehabilitation of orphaned children in a children's labor commune.
Two newcomers, Sytch and Borka, arrive in the commune of Kalinino. Sytch immediately runs away to find his grandfather, a beekeeper, and tries to convince Borka to steal his grandfather's beehive. But Borka, already influenced by the collective's wholesome education, refuses. Frightened by Sytch's threats, Borka wants to take refuge in the city. On the way, he saves a child from drowning and finally returns to Kalinino. He has broken definitively with Sytch and his dubious past. Meanwhile, the commune is in danger of closing due to lack of funds. The close-knit collective finds a solution. The kids manage to capture wild bees and, with the help of the factory manager, set up profitable beehives. But then a fire breaks out. It is the grandfather, owner of the neighboring hives, who, frightened by the competition, convinced Sytch to set the fire. The men of the commune eventually put out the fire. Seriously burned, Sytch is cared for by the people of the commune. Not only does he recover his health, but now he believes in the commune.
