A turtle, a mouse, and a sparrow live happily in a small house. The fox, envious of them, decides to eat them, but fails. So she dresses up as an old fortune teller and tells the sparrow and mouse their fortunes, saying that their friend is lazy and a liar. They quarrel with the turtle, who goes to fetch water alone, and a fox, disguised as a merchant, is waiting for her at the well.
