USSR. Mid-80s. An ordinary Soviet writer Felix Snigirev, by force of circumstances, learns the secret of a group of comrades, which lies in their immortality. This fact causes serious doubts in Snigirev, but becomes a serious threat to his life. He must choose - to die or to become immortal. The choice, it would seem, is quite obvious, and the question of whether to live or not to live is similar to the question posed to Shakespeare's hero. However, in this situation, the states of "Live" and "Be" are in sharp contradiction. What will Felix choose?..
