Plot synopsis
The case of Andrei Tarkovsky, the greatest Russian director
of the second half of the 20th century, is being actively
discussed. He went to Italy in 1982 to shoot “Nostalgia”,
presented in Cannes from Italy, but produced by Italy together
with Sovinfilm, and in 1984, he declared that he would not
return to his homeland. The main question is to what extent
Andrei Tarkovsky’s concrete decision to stay in a foreign land
gives an idea of the real complexity of the moral and social
choice, which, at least at that time, did not have any final
resolution.
