Plot synopsis
The film created in the years of «cold war» presents the official state ideology of those years. The last days of World War II. The Soviet army soldiers and the Americans-allies meet on the bank of the Elba dividing the German city Altershtadt. General Mac-Dermot tries to get patents of optic plants from professor Ditrikh, the burgomaster of the Soviet area of the city. With the help of Sherwood, an American spy, the patents stolen from the safe fall into the hands of fascist Shrank. But Shrank fails to hand them over to Mac-Dermot, as the Russian soldiers stop him at the border of the two areas. Ditrikh who is deceived by the Americans and has escaped to the western bank returns to the Soviet area to build the new Germany.
