In 1998 Ildar Yagafarov successfully graduated
from VGIK (well-known masters M.Babak and
S.Kochetkov workshop).
In 2000 he shot his first film “Behetkei”. In 2001
this work received the diploma of the “Turkic
cinema days” festival in Istanbul and in 2002 was
named as the best one in nomination “Foreign
student film” at Houston festival, USA. In 2005
his film “Kuktau” (“Sky mountain”) was awarded
by the Film Producers Guild at Russian “Kinotavr”
Film Festival.
In 2005 Ildar Yagafarov founded “Yaproduction” film studio on the basis of which
in 2010 a short-length feature film in Russian
“Trinket” was shot and presented at the «Short
Film Corner» within the framework of the 63rd
Cannes Film Festival. Also the “Trinket” was
included in non competition program of the
All-Russian Short author’s film Festival,2010 in
Moscow. In 2012 the film “Yugaltu” participated
in competition program of the VIII Kazan
International Muslim Film Festival and received
a special sponsor’s prize “For the contribution to
the preservation of national traditions and the
Tatar language”.
In 2018 “Baigal” film was shot. The film
received special major jury prize of the XXVII
Open Festival “Kinoshok” in the city of Anapa.
The award is given with the formulation “For
caring attitude towards national traditions”. In
2019 “Baigal” received Mayor’s prize at KIMFF
and Yuri Danilov (cameraman) won in the
nomination “The best camera work of full-feature film”.
