Anna Marly (Anna Yourievna Smirnova-Marly) was a singer, poet, and writer who was very well-known in France and later – in Russia. The song Le Chant des partisans became popular during the Second World War as the national anthem of the French Resistance. Having received a high distinction from Charles de Gaulle, Anna Marly became "the Russian muse for the French". Always with the guitar in her hands until her death in 2006, Anna played and sang for both her countries – France and Russia.
