From 1961 to 1979, Yevgeny Zagdansky was the editor-in-chief of the Kievnauchfilm studio. From 1981 to 1992, his son Andrei Zagdansky worked as a director in the same studio. In 1992, Andrei and his family left for New York. Yevgeny remained in kyiv. The son's account of his father's life and the father's letters to his son form the framework of this documentary essay. It is also a portrait of a man of that time and a self-portrait of the author.
