Plot synopsis
Nathan Bekker, after having emigrated from Russia and lived for several years in the United States, returns to the USSR and resumes his work as a bricklayer in a large factory. He pushes another bricklayer to compete with him for laying bricks but he is beaten. Nathan thinks he will be fired, but on the contrary he is congratulated for his way of laying bricks which is quickly adopted by the whole factory.
