At the country mansion of a high-ranking official named Lotov, office equipment containing documents marked ‘top secret’ goes missing. A local police constable and a colonel from the secret service set out to find the missing materials. The constable’s search leads him to a village cottage that has become a hideout for repeat offenders, a folk poet, a young hacker and some of the village’s most beautiful women. On the other bank of the river lies an exclusive estate with luxurious mansions, where a romantic intrigue is rapidly unfolding – a love triangle involving the young beauty Elena, her husband Lieutenant-Colonel Batov, and the financier Morozov. Ghosts from the past continue to haunt the characters in the present, weaving themselves into an inextricable tangle of relationships and plot twists.
