Kirill, a taxi driver from a provincial town, accidentally hits a man and, in a state of shock, covers up the crime. He thus becomes embroiled in criminal activities and finds himself drawn into a series of crimes, which are being investigated by Vasily Khrapov, an investigator from Moscow. Fate brings Khrapov together with Kirill, whose life has changed since that fateful accident. Khrapov begins to suspect everyone around him, including Kirill. The investigation leads Khrapov to an unexpected discovery — the man behind the crimes is someone he trusted.
