Plot synopsis
1980s in the USSR. Seven-year-old Olia, whom everyone calls Olive, grew up in the countryside. Her faithful friend, the dog Rex, is always by her side. Olive is convinced that she understands animals and can easily communicate with them, whether they are dogs or goats. In addition, Olive is very erudite, with a maturity beyond her years in her worldview, having read her grandmother's entire library. Her best friend, Igoriok, is a not-too-bright but very resourceful little boy, madly in love with Olive, and ready to follow her on all her adventures. But her familiar world crumbles when her parents take Olive to the city. There, her neighbor Mathilde looks after her. Mathilde tries to instill in her a love of art and discipline, but she herself gradually finds herself drawn into Olive's astonishing world. In the city, Olive will have to make new friends and adapt to completely different rules of life.
