Plot synopsis
Innokenty Mikhailovich Smoktunovsky (born Smoktunovich) is a Soviet and Russian theater and film actor, People's Artist of the USSR (1974), Hero of Socialist Labor (1990), and Lenin Prize laureate (1965). Participant in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
The images created by Smoktunovsky on stage - Prince Myshkin at the Bolshoi Drama Theatre, Tsar Fyodor Ioannovich at the Maly, Chekhov's Ivanov and Porfiry Golovlev at the Moscow Art Theatre - entered the "golden fund" of Russian theatrical art.
Smoktunovsky was called the first intellectual actor of Soviet cinema; he played his best roles in the films "Soldiers", "Nine Days of One Year", "Hamlet", "Tchaikovsky", "The Ladies' Tailor" and in Eldar Ryazanov's lyrical comedy "Beware of the Car".
