Plot synopsis
The thirteenth episode of the documentary series "Historical Chronicles" is dedicated to the great Russian artist Ilya Efimovich Repin and the very year that became the starting point, the touchstone with which all the achievements of the entire era of Soviet power were compared - 1913.
Host Nikolai Svanidze talks about the drama that unfolded around Repin's famous painting "Ivan the Terrible Kills His Son", when the crazy Abram Balashov stabbed the famous canvas three times. Poet and critic Maximilian Voloshin spoke out in defense of Balashov and against naturalism in art - a scandal erupted in society.
The film centers on the worldview of a talented artist who, according to the author, became the first man of the sixties, and the famous men of the sixties of the second half of the 20th century - his so-called spiritual brothers. The conversation features: academician Alexander Yakovlev, economist Yevgeny Yasin, poet Yevgeny Yevtushenko.
