Ten-year-old Alena feels lonely in the village during her summer holidays and wants to make friends with the local "gang" of her peers. But the conditions of the performance are strict: either Alena commits a robbery, or gives the "ataman" her brand new sneakers. Alena agrees, but during the theft she discovers that her victim is a lonely grandfather. Thus, for the first time, Alena feels not only a sense of guilt, but also responsibility for her own actions.
