Made for the first anniversary of Lenin's death, the film is both a detective story and a film about everyday life at the time. It particularly evokes the massive membership in the Communist Party that followed Lenin's death.
The main heroes of the film are the daughter of a factory worker and the son of the former owner of this factory, who returned illegally to the USSR to look for jewels hidden there by his father.
