Anna's visions have stopped and she is about to return to Moscow, but a sudden attack of appendicitis forces her to stay in Zatonsk. In the hospital where she is operated on, according to legend, lives the ghost of a "black nurse", whose appearance warns of the patient's imminent death. Anna and Sumarokov must uncover the secret of this spirit and investigate the murder of the head doctor of the clinic.
