The members of the Akhatneli family have chosen different paths in life. Niko is a Bolshevik revolutionary, the elder brother Akaki is a Menshevik, Iliko is a reckless reveler. Their sister Keto is under the influence of her fiancé, the revolutionary Zurab, and is sympathetic to the struggle of the working class. One day Niko is arrested for putting up leaflets.
