Firusa, a 10-year-old girl, writes an essay in Russian on the theme "The Homeland". She asks for help from her grandmother, Mouchkinaz, who tells her about her difficult life, her childhood in Georgia and then her life in Kazakhstan after the deportations of the Meskhetian Turks in 1944.
