This film series, based on a subject taken from the work of Vasily Shukshin, consists of six different short films: "Другая жизнь" [Another Life], "Вянет – пропадает" [Wilt - Vanishes], "Гена Пройдисвет" [Gena Proidisvet / Gene Proidisvet], "Ораторский прием" [The Oratorical Reception], "Бессовестные" [The Unscrupulous], "Самородок" [Autodidact / Nugget]
At the base of each of these short stories, there is one or more stories of the remarkable Russian writer. The heroes are simple people, "of the people", contemporaries of Shukshin, having experienced everything of the circumstances that indissolubly linked them to their country - the Soviet Union of the 60s - 70s. The main thing, which unifies both the work itself and the script of the film, is the whole gallery of portraits and characters, evocation of so many different destinies that form the story at the center of which we constantly find the man with his love, his desires, his weaknesses and his victories.
