A. Istratov was born in 1965 in Novosibirsk. In 1993 he graduated from the S.A. Gerasimov Institute of Cinema. In the 1990s he worked for various film agencies. He was the initiator, author of the scripts and director of the series "Legends of World Cinema" and "Legends of Cinema" on the channel "Kultura". No less than 425 episodes of this program were broadcast from 2004 to 2017. A. Istratov is a member of the Union of Russian Cinematographers and the Guild of Russian Film Directors.
