The programme tells the story of Arthur Aouizerate, a Frenchman who works at the Kola Scientific Centre in Apatity. Arthur is a scientist and geologist. He moved from Corsica to take up permanent residence in Russia, in a town in the centre of the Murmansk Region at the foot of the Khibiny Mountains. Arthur converted to Orthodox Christianity whilst in China, and upon arriving in Russia, he began learning Russian. Arthur regards his work as a geologist as a journey through time: his research takes him back billions of years to the dawn of Earth’s history, enabling him to make astonishing discoveries in the present day.
