The animals are preparing to celebrate the New Year. Everyone cuts down their own tree, then spends time with their families. The bear, fox, and squirrel do the same, while the hungry and angry wolves pounce on Father Frost and his reindeer to steal the sack of gifts. The sack contains everything children dream of—dolls, trains, soldiers, balls. The gray hares notice Father Frost fending off his attackers with his staff and call for help from animals across the forest. The wolves are already carrying off the sack of toys when a bear runs up and stops them. The enemies are defeated. Father Frost performs a magical feat—he parts the trees in the forest, and everyone sees a Christmas tree in the clearing. Toys pop out of the sack and decorate it from top to bottom.
