In 1925, he studied at the decorative arts department of the Leningrad Technical School of Screen Arts, and in 1930, he graduated from the Higher Art and Technical Institute (former Academy of Arts). From 1922 to 1925, he worked as a poster artist at the Art and Decorative Workshop of the Children's Commission (Arkhangelsk). From 1930, he worked at the Leningrad film studio "Sovkino" (later "Soyuzkino," "Rosfilm," and "Lenfilm"). In 1932, together with S. Tarasov, he produced the first color Leningrad animation film, "Symphony of Peace," and was one of the initiators of the creation (1937) of the color animation workshop at Lenfilm. He died during the siege of Leningrad.
