The village postman Semyon Penkin is famous in his village for knowing the poems of Pushkin and Lermontov by heart, as well as for impromptu poetic poems on given topics. Since school, he has been in love with Nastya Kruglikova and writes poetry to her in the manner of Petrarch’s sonnets, who dedicated them to his beloved Laura. Semyon has a rival, the hooligan Oleg Anokhin, whom Nastya prefers.
