Plot synopsis
The lives of Marina Tsvetayeva and Anna Akhmatova, Arseny Tarkovsky and Viktor Bokov, Niklai Aseyev and Ilya Selvinsky, Boris Pasternak and Leonid Leonov—there’s no naming them all for the list would be too long—are connected with this city in Tatarstan. Some of them were only there for a short time, some for the two harsh war years, some tragically, and some happily.
It is here that many poems, novels and dramas long acknowledged as classics were first written.
Many historical documents are shown for the first time in the film, since Chistopol has failed to capture the attention of cinematographs before.
The film is about life today in this city of museums under the aegis of Russian literature where, in spite of the degeneracy of the new times, art gives its vital rhythm.
