Plot synopsis
From more than five thousand hours of home movies, Vitalij Manskij composed a fictional life story of a Russian young man, who was born in 1961 and died in 1986. On-screen dates distinguish the various parts and guide us through history (Cuba crisis, moon landing, Brezhnev's death), while the stoical voice-over tells us about his personal highs and lows: his first steps as a baby, his parents' divorce, the beach, rock 'n roll, holidays - a lot of holidays -, girls. As is common with home movies, it is a succession of cheerful, pleasant moments, which together bring forth a Russian middle class that saw communism as something happening far away in Moscow.
