A musical-review. Sergey Chaikin, a sailor, lives in a small southern town. Friends like to listen to his cheerful and soulful songs. Sergey falls in love with Lena, a sportsgirl. Vadim, manager of a sailors’ cultural center, is not indifferent to her either. Lena and Vadim leave for Moscow to take part in the VI World Youth Festival. Sergey follows them with an ensemble of sailors having replaced a diseased soloist. During the Festival Lena finds out that Vadim has no guts and that modest and inconspicuous appearance of Sergey hides a kind, generous soul and a pure heart.
