Plot synopsis
The main character of the film is Nikolai Vassenin. He is a veteran
of the Soviet-Finnish War and World War II,
and a knight of the Legion of Honor. He participated in the Resistance
in 1943-1944. During the war he was dating the young Frenchwoman Jeanne
Monot, whom he loved for his whole life, but whom he had to leave in August 1944.
In June 2014, at the age of 94, Nikolai Vassenin returned to France to
see his beloved again. The money for this trip was collected with the help of
more than 2,500 people and thanks to the principles of crowdfunding.
