The film tells the story of the grandson of Kostya Ivanov, whose father once emigrated to the United States, married an American woman there and started his own business.
His son, raised abroad, does not know a word of Russian or Ukrainian. But one day the boy comes with his father to spend a few days in kyiv to visit their parents. And he falls in love with a local jazz band. To the despair of his parents who had predicted a brilliant future for him in their company, the young American decides to stay in kyiv to play jazz.
