The young shepherd Ermek Jakipov dreams of traveling in space. He leaves his flock of sheep and comes to the city. The director of the aeronautical institute refuses him. Ermek is offended but decides to stay in the city. He finds a job as a heating engineer at the film studio. One day on the set of a film Ermek replaces the pretentious actor Aliev whom he resembled. A curious situation arises, many people at the studio, including Aliev's wife, mistake Ermek for Aliev.
Working on the role of a shepherd in the film, Ermek realizes his mistake and returns to his collective farm.
