Arriving a year late (hence the title, The Eleventh Year), Vertov's film was intended to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Bolshevik revolution. Many of the experiments with spatial and temporal dislocation seen in his later works make their first appearance in The Eleventh Year, a work of great beauty and emotional force.
