Journalist Murad Yakubov wrote a feuilleton about the bribe-taker and slanderer Nureyev, using materials from the party commission. But later, having studied other materials, the hero came to the conclusion that he had slandered a man who was trying to expose the mafia led by the regional committee secretary Nazirov. Nureyev was imprisoned, and the journalist, having incriminating material in his hands, entered into a fight with the mafia.
