Aman, the main character, has loved dogs since childhood, a trait he inherited from his father. As a boy, he was orphaned and raised by his grandfather. As a child, Aman suffers a misfortune: his beloved dog is poisoned by an escaped convict, who is given shelter by Aman's kind-hearted grandfather. Growing up, Aman, a simple-minded guy, works as a driver on a collective farm. But his love of dogs leads to various incidents, comical and even tragic, that befall him. And everyone calls him a blockhead or a dog lover.
