We learn about migratory birds and their wintering grounds from sixth-grade biology textbooks. And we imagine a resort where our birds have a perfectly pleasant time. However, research by Russian ornithologists refutes this. The majority of our birds do not return. The problem of excess mortality abroad has been a concern for specialists for many years. The "Birds" project was created primarily to draw attention to the quietly decimated environment. While the issue is legal in Russia, in other countries where our migratory birds winter, it's simply ignored. Siberian ornithologist Igor Karyakin is following the tracks of bird trackers to investigate what's happening to Russian birds in foreign lands. Together with his Indian partner, Dau, he will travel to the locations where the signal was last received.
