This documentary is dedicated to the large family of Sergei Vladimirovich Mikhalkov. The author of the timeless *Uncle Stepa*, whose plays have sold 500 million copies, of three national anthems – two Soviet and one Russian – and of the country’s principal epitaph on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, led a truly unique life. Sergei Mikhalkov received awards from every administration – from the Generalissimo right through to Putin. It seems we know everything about Mikhalkov! But, in reality, so little is known.
The film reveals little-known details from the life of the great creative Mikhalkov family, their sometimes complex relationships, their mutual support and love, and what remained ‘behind the scenes’ for a long time, never making it into the numerous articles.
