Far in the North, in a small, poor yaranga, lived a widow with her son Yatto and daughter Teyune. The children were lazy and disobedient; they didn't want to help their mother gather firewood for the fire. Teyune was more concerned with her long, beautiful braids than with household chores. And when the fire in the hearth died out, the evil old woman Purga burst into the yaranga. The mother tried to protect her children, but Purga carried her away. The brother and sister had to forget about their laziness and go in search of their mother.
