The near future. In low-Earth orbit, construction of the enormous solar power station "Delta" is nearing completion. During a sudden proton storm, communication with Earth is lost and the electronics malfunction. Engineer Maxim Bortnikov, working in outer space, fails to find shelter, crashes into the station's module, and becomes stuck in the helium storage tank.
