Lera is a star Moscow obstetrician, a supporter of the idea of natural childbirth. One of her clients is Masha, the young mistress of an influential businessman Shakhov. Masha is supposed to give birth to his long-awaited heir, but due to complications that arose during childbirth, the child is born in an extremely serious condition. Shakhov initiates an investigation and now the answer to the question "who is to blame?" will determine the fate of not only the clinic, but, possibly, Lera herself, who is being made to blame for what happened.
