At 26, Dounia, a young French-Russian woman, returns to her hometown in Russia to see her dying father, whom she hasn't seen for over ten years. She hopes to understand why he chose to disappear from her life, why silence replaced words and absence replaced memories.
But upon her arrival, she learns that he is already deceased. She then finds herself immersed in funeral preparations, surrounded by her stepmother and her 7-year-old half-brother, whom she is meeting for the first time.
At first jealous of this little boy who had the chance to know their father, to share moments with him she never had, she gradually discovers, through their budding bond, a new way to reconnect with the father she thought was lost forever.
