Plot synopsis
The film is composed of 4 films, the first is directed by Youri Norstein and Ivan Ivanov-Vano, the other three are directed by Youri Norstein

After a heartbreaking farewell to their wife and their city, soldiers leave
to wage a murderous and brutal war against the Tatars. Norstein
animates icons on an opera by Rimsky-Korsakov. Amazing
- The Heron and the Stork
The Stork and his neighbor the Heron struggle to express their feelings.
Blinded by their pride, they circle each other without being able to confess
their love. Marivaux here borders on the Russian soul. Light and serious,
nostalgic but hilarious.
